As the Next Youth Support Coordinator
You will play a vital role in supporting secondary students at risk of disengaging from education. Young people are smart, creative, and full of potential, constantly adapting to an ever-changing global world. The Department of Education recognises the complexities they face and is committed to creating the right conditions for their success.
Engagement with the education system from early childhood through to young adulthood is closely linked to positive life outcomes, including improved employment opportunities, better health, and stronger community participation. Your role will be central to improving our response to early warning signs of disengagement. By implementing proactive, student-centred strategies, you will help foster meaningful participation in school life and learning.
We acknowledge that some students encounter barriers that impact their ability to succeed. These challenges can arise at any stage of secondary education, and with timely, skilled intervention, many students can be supported to re-engage and achieve their goals.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of a school community dedicated to ensuring that every student has the chance to succeed.
