Department Overview
The Commercial Operations group oversees all ANZ Presales activities including commercial management, customer quotation, price list management, and bid and proposal management.Within that group, the Presales team has a position available for a Presales Business Manager. This role is responsible for managing small to large proposals and bids (in accordance with our ANZ proposal management procedures). This
includes development of bids, solicited and unsolicited proposals, quotes, pricing and renewals.
This role has responsibility for coordinating, collating and completing responses and managing the cross-functional teams which support those responses. It is also within the scope of this role to identify and cost Motorola Solutions and third-party labour.
Job Description
- Manage a dynamic workload of simultaneous proposals
- Assess and communicate customer requirements for inclusion in solution and implementation planning
- Create/coordinate customer proposal documents such as: Statement of Work, Bill of Materials, Implementation Plan, Delivery Schedule, Risk Register
- Develop and use standardised documents such as templates and agreements, to the extent possible
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with sales, solutions managers and internal customers
- Regular progress reports and ability to escalate issues as appropriate
- Work closely with Account Manager to determine pricing strategy and work with pricing team to prepare customer price schedule.
- Ensure proper documentation and sign-off from appropriate internal approvers, complying with relevant internal approval guidelines (i.e. EBCR, Apttus).
- Manage proposal schedules and tasks including, as required:
- Deadline, document and people management
- Coordinating meetings, actions and minutes
- Estimating Motorola Solutions and third-party labour and services for quotation, including schedule, work breakdown, resources, risk budget and third party providers
- Coordinating internal business approvals and reviews
- Ensuring that all response requirements are met
- Conduct project post-mortem analysis to capture lessons learned for the benefits of future
Basic Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications are required. Qualifications in Business, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline are highly desirable
- Successful applicants will be required to pass a police security clearance.
Professional Experience
Essential:
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Great written and oral communication skills
- Good ICT skills
- Ability to deliver to a fixed date
- Bid management experience preferred
- At least 2-3 years experience in a role involving strategy, planning, project coordination, proposal development, or in a related role
- Prior experience of project coordination and management, proposal management, service management, engineering management, sales, product planning or development, business development/ strategy or enterprise service delivery
Desirable:
- Radio / Telecommunications / Information Technology / Engineering experience
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a role involving strategy, planning, project coordination, proposal development, or in a related role
- Prior experience of project coordination and management, proposal management, service management, engineering management, sales, product planning or development, business development/ strategy or enterprise service delivery
