The team
The Enterprise Services Group consists of four teams including Finance, Procurement, Property and Contracts, Performance Reporting and Planning and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program. The Group provides a range of support, advice and analysis services across ASIC.
The Procurement, Property and Contracts team is a consolidated procurement support area of expertise to propel efficient, visible procurement and contract management. The team provides category support for Technology, legal and professional services, oversight of high value/risk procurement, and an advisory and educational service to ensure a cost-effective procurement process.
The role
As a Category Officer, you will lead the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for ASIC Technology & Digital Contractors and Consultants, ensuring compliance and effective contract execution. You will also manage low-value/low-risk procurements, provide strategic advice and prepare necessary documentation in consultation with business and legal advisers. Acting as the key liaison, you will coordinate with stakeholders on all Technology & Digital Contingent Labour procurement matters, negotiate contract terms and maintain procurement databases. Additionally, you will support team members in software, hardware and other Technology & Digital services procurement, assess and report on procurement risks, and drive project delivery within tight timeframes.
You will also conduct procurement activities using Australian Whole of Government Arrangements and Federal Government Panels, manage transactional procurements and facilitate contract change control processes. Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across ASIC, industry and government is crucial. You will ensure financial and non-financial implications of contract variations are assessed, provide ongoing contract management advice, and support the Senior Manager, Technology & Digital and the team with additional responsibilities as needed.
About you
To excel in this role, you should have relevant procurement experience, preferably within the government sector. You will need to demonstrate your ability to provide operational support and advice throughout the entire procurement lifecycle, including strategy, planning, document development, evaluation, negotiation, and contract management. A strong understanding of government procurement policies and probity requirements is essential, along with experience using Government Panels and their associated portals like Digital Marketplace, Software Marketplace and Hardware Marketplace. Your ability to assess, analyse and resolve procurement and contracting issues will be crucial.
Strong project management skills, customer focus and attention to detail are key attributes for success. You should possess excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision while being accountable for outcomes. Exceptional written, presentation, and verbal communication skills are necessary, including the ability to simplify complex concepts and influence decision-makers.
