About the role

We’re seeking a motivated and energetic Communications Coordinator who will be primarily responsible for providing communications support and coordination to the Public Affairs and Communities (PAC) team in Queensland.

You’ll join a high performing, experienced team, who manage the development and implementation of communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and activities on projects, initiatives and campaigns.

Day-to-day, you will:
  • Draft reports, minutes, agendas and coordinate/schedule meetings and events as required
  • Liaise with third party suppliers to book/purchase goods and services including advertising, catering, venues, printing etc
  • Provide support to the Queensland Public Affairs and Communities team
  • Support in the implementation of communications campaigns using appropriate internal and external channels, including online, social media, advertising, newsletters and presentations
  • Draft engaging content including print, online, social media, presentations
  • Assist in the organisation of corporate events (including on-road community events such as Bridge to Brisbane, Tour de Brisbane)
  • Assist with photography/videography requirements including
    organising shoots, coordinating approvals and uploading them
    to the centralised database
  • Contribute to the implementation of community engagement plans, including drafting required materials
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of project
    communications as required, including traffic alerts, letterbox
  • Respond to customer, community and stakeholder
    enquiries and complaints (received via email, phone, social
    media and in-person)
  • Participate in the Public Affairs communications 24/7 on-call
    roster to deal with community and stakeholder issues out of
    hours
  • Support incident and emergency management communications
    as required

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the proven ability to translate complex language into plain English
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating corporate events
  • Tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications and/or Public Relations
  • Demonstrated ability to support the delivery of community relations programs and activities, including experience in maintaining community relations systems and processes
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines and in a high-pressure, dynamic corporate environment
  • Ability to take initiative and work in an autonomous environment
  • Demonstrated ability to implement communications plans to support project objectives, using a broad range of channels with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to write for various mediums including social media, print, resident notifications, newsletters, reports and presentations
  • Hold or able to obtain valid QLD driver’s licence to drive to sites and meetings with external stakeholders and assist with events
