About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for suitably qualified mental health/AOD support workers to join the new Life Without Barriers Family Based AOD Psychosocial Support Program, based in Newcastle.
The role of the Community Support Worker AOD is to provide AOD psychosocial support services, focusing on client, with determination, hope and belief that recovery is possible. Reporting to the Clinician, Community Support Workers will work with clients to identify challenges to recovery and implement effective solutions.
There are two part time roles available at 0.6 and 0.8 FTE. This is an opportunity to join a newly created team with an innovative purpose, within an inclusive and values driven national organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support clients to increase their ability to fully participate in their recovery and ongoing clinical and psycho-social support needs
- Assist clients to develop their skills to self-manage their lifestyle and well-being
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with family members and other stakeholders
- Work to consumers individualised plans and track progress in line with funding requirements
- Administration and record keeping
Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV Alcohol and Other Drugs or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience working with people with mental health challenges and/or AOD challenges
- Passionate about client outcomes and mental health advocacy
- High computer literacy and administration skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Current Provide First Aid Certificate
- Current valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
