A bit about the role
As Coordinator Horticulture, you’ll oversee the planning, maintenance and improvement of horticultural landscapes across the municipality. From managing contractors and capital works projects to leading a passionate team and advising on plant selection, you’ll play a key role in shaping vibrant, sustainable public spaces for the community to enjoy.
What you’ll deliver
- Oversee a diverse team of staff and contractors to maintain and enhance parks, gardens, and urban green spaces.
- Provide expert horticultural advice and decision-making to support resilient, sustainable plantings and landscapes.
- Drive strategic planning and continuous improvement across horticultural operations and open space masterplans.
- Manage maintenance and capital works contracts, ensuring projects meet high standards and industry best practice.
- Project manage the end-to-end delivery of capital works, including planning, procurement, and implementation.
- Foster collaboration with internal teams, contractors, and community stakeholders to deliver outstanding open space outcomes.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification (AQF 5+) in horticulture or significant relevant experience.
- Proven leadership in managing large public gardens or horticultural landscapes.
- Experience in developing and maintaining horticultural assets and delivering high-standard maintenance programs.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage work programs.
- Skilled in contractor management and overseeing project budgets.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across all levels.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check & Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
