ASIC's Data Governance team is currently seeking an experienced Data Governance Policy professional to drive and contribute to the data governance framework and strategy across ASIC's RegistryConnect Program.

The team
The Data Governance team leads the development and implementation of ASIC's data strategy. Collaborating with business and technical stakeholders, the team establishes data policies, principles and standards to enhance data capture, sharing and usage across ASIC. It also oversees a governance programme to safeguard data assets and manage associated risks.
The role
The Data Governance Policy Advisor supports the implementation of ASIC's data governance framework within the RegistryConnect Program by aligning project delivery with governance standards and documenting current practices. The role involves engaging stakeholders, monitoring compliance, reporting risks, delivering user training, and providing administrative support for governance initiatives.
More specifically, you will:
- Support the development and implementation of standards, policies and processes to ensure alignment with ASIC's data governance framework and strategy.
- Collaborate with the Business Analyst to document current data governance practices within Registries business unit and RegistryConnect program.
- Engage with Registry data teams and SMEs to assess existing governance processes and identify opportunities for alignment with enterprise policy.
- Contribute to project planning, research, monitoring, and analysis to support governance initiatives.
- Assist delivery teams in meeting data governance requirements, including integrating reference data into Collibra, drafting data quality statements and capturing metadata.
- Deliver user training and refine enterprise processes based on feedback, including socialisation and relaunch activities.
About you
The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic and detail-focused professional with relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in data governance, including familiarity with frameworks such as DAMA and DMBOK. They will excel in managing complex data, embedding data strategy, policy and ensuring compliance across projects. With strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills, they effectively engage stakeholders at all levels to support the successful delivery of governance initiatives.
In addition, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Information Management, Economics, Law, or a related discipline with a focus on data governance.
- Proven experience in developing and applying data governance policies and practices, with knowledge of frameworks such as DAMA, DMBOK, and DATA2.0.
- Demonstrated ability to work with complex data and embed data strategy across projects.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
