Job details


The Department is seeking an experienced Delivery Manager that will oversee the end-to-end delivery of initiatives, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders to understand requirements, provide progress updates, identify, and mitigate risks, ensure deliverables meet quality standards, and continuously improve delivery processes. The candidate will need to have strong skills in organisation, leadership, and communication, as well as knowledge of agile practices and tools.

The main responsibilities of this role are:


  • Lead cross-functional coordinate to ensuring timely delivery of outcomes and effective resource allocation.
  • Identify, manage, and resolve interdependencies and delivery risks to maintain momentum and alignment with project timelines.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery objectives and foster collaboration.
  • Ensure consistent alignment between delivery teams and stakeholders to uphold project goals and strategic direction.
  • Proactively identify and remove delivery impediments to enable team productivity and progress.
  • Facilitate solution governance processes, including approvals and escalations, in accordance with organisational processes.
  • Prepare and coordinate reporting deliverables on behalf of the project team, ensuring accuracy and relevance for decision-making.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies and delivery events to maintain team focus, cadence, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain disciplined documentation practices, including backlog refinement, risk and issue tracking, and impediment management.
  • Represent the team in DAFF program planning forums as required, ensuring delivery priorities are communicated effectively and aligned with broader program objectives.


Skills and Experience:


We’re looking for a candidate who has:


  • Proven experience in coordinating design and architecture activities and managing multiple teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Skilled in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks, identifying opportunities, and removing blockers.
  • Experience facilitating agile events and coordinating technical refinement sessions.
  • Experience coordinating design workshops and bringing technical stakeholder together.

About the team


The Digital ID and Account team is instrumental in transforming and modernising the digital landscape at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). Our team is the custodian of an enterprise capability comprised of multiple platforms and products that enable contemporary digital identification, authentication, authorisation and relationship management supporting critical Australian exports, imports and biosecurity functions. We are a genuinely multi-disciplinary team delivering digital value at scale, from concept ideation, through service design, to shipping systems for public use and even to providing operational support to our products, platform and users. We are also overseeing the development of the first enterprise policy and framework guiding the consumption of digital ID for DAFF. We collaborate closely with various stakeholders, both internally and externally to share insights and deploy innovative solutions, prioritising data and cyber security alongside user experience. This includes the establishment of an operational capability to ensure the successful onboarding of new services and the continuous improvement of existing ones.


About the project


The Digital ID and Account team is involved in multiple key programs of work centred around digital transformation and improvements to existing services. Each of these programs require their own unique solutions, utilising the skills and expertise of the team. The team’s efforts are crucial for supporting many relying services inside these programs and ensure the successful uplift of our products that are required to support change.
