About the role

As a Design Coordinator, you’ll work closely with the Design Manager and broader team to support the successful delivery of high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective design solutions. You'll play a vital part in managing consultants, supporting value engineering efforts, ensuring documentation is aligned with project scope, and driving clear communication across stakeholders.

As a Design Coordinator at McNab you will be undertake the following:

  • Assist with overall coordination of the design process, from pre-construction through to project delivery
  • Assist in the coordination of the design process and ensure compliance with budget, programmes, Approvals, Building Code of Australia (BCA) and other legislative requirements and clients requirements.
  • Collaborate with consultants and stakeholders to ensure clear, accurate documentation that supports construction and buildability
  • Identify and manage design risks and opportunities, with a strong commercial mindset
  • Ensure documentation aligns with budgets, timeframes, and quality targets
  • Assist the estimating team in the preparation of scopes and detailed design proposals for D&C projects.
  • Contribute to site visits, RFIs, and managing design changes, variations and approvals
  • Contribute to the effective control and administration of documentation from all parties (authorities, client, tenants, subcontractors etc.)
  • Support project teams through assisting with clarification of any project design and construction issues.

About you

  • Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Building Design or similar, with proven experience working in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the design management process and an understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards and WHS legislation
  • Possess good commercial and technical awareness.
  • Have strong communication skills with an ability to build relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Act decisively with an ability to problem solve.
  • Be agile – we are a fast-moving business with changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for quality outcomes
