Reporting to the Design Manager, you'll be responsible for preparing planning drawings, working drawings, and final construction sets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency at every stage. You'll work closely with multiple departments, supervisors, and occasionally directly with clients, to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with Regent Homes' high standards.
Main responsibilities
- Produce accurate planning drawings, working drawings, and final construction sets.
- Review and approve timber framing layouts and structural steel documentation.
- Collaborate with estimation, selections, and construction teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement of design and construction methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with council requirements, industry standards, and governance bodies.
- Attend and contribute to client design meetings as required.
- Deliver drawings that balance creativity, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
- A minimum Diploma qualification in Building Design
- At least 3 years' experience in a Drafting role in the housing and construction industry
- Preferred experience with ArchiCAD, however not essential
- Sound knowledge of the National Construction and Australian standards & codes
- Strong understanding of building design concepts and procedures
- Solid understanding of building specifications, materials, and construction practices
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with proven time management and organisational skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
- Ability to show initiative
