We are seeking for a skilled Night Shift/Sleepover Disability Support Workers dedicated with substantial experience in supporting clients with dementia, managing challenging behaviours, and providing holistic care. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in medication administration, manual handling, and personal care, and will bring a patient-cantered approach to their role.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, empathetic support to clients with mental health conditions, dementia, and disabilities.
- Administer medication in accordance with established protocols and ensure accurate documentation.
- Perform manual handling tasks safely and effectively, adhering to best practices and safety guidelines.
- Deliver personal care services, including assistance with daily living activities, hygiene, and mobility.
- Implement individualised care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and other professionals.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours with a calm and supportive approach.
- Monitor and report on clients' physical and emotional well-being and adapt care plans as needed.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages client engagement and independence.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in mental health and disability support.
Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications and qualifications in mental health, disability support, or a related field.
- Experience in mental health and disability support, with a focus on dementia care.
- Proven experience in medication administration and manual handling.
- Strong understanding of personal care needs and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-cantered approach.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
