An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly organised and efficient individual to join our brand-new Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) team set to launch in late September. Reporting directly to the DOSA unit manager, the successful applicant will play a pivotal role in supporting the nursing team to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience during their admission to the DOSA unit.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing incoming and outgoing calls, including phone calls from operating theatre, surgeons’ rooms, company representatives, and staff
- Greeting patients on arrival to DOSA for admission and greeting patient’s nominated collection person on discharge
- Work alongside visiting medical officers, colleagues, patients and visitors to ensure a smooth hospital experience for patients.
- Ordering of stationary items and distribution
- Managing staff requests for patient results such as pathology whilst maintaining strict patient confidentiality
- Assist nursing staff in making post operative appointments for patients
- Prepare patient history for medical records post patient discharge
- Work in collaboration with Theatre Bookings Clerk to amend theatre lists as required
- Data entry of diet codes into ChefMax
- Providing administrative support to the DOSA NUM
About You
To succeed in this role, you must have strong attention to detail and demonstrated excellence in consumer relations. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (75 hours per fortnight). Some flexibility with shift times may be available upon request.
This is a permanent full-time position; however, we are open to considering permanent part-time roles for the right candidates. Please indicate your preference, full-time or part-time, in your application.
In addition, you will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
You will also demonstrate:
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in using the Microsoft office suite with ability to maintain accurate data entry
- Excellent time management skills
- Certificate in Medical Terminology (Desirable)
- Familiarity with meditech (Desirable)
Remuneration: On offer is base hourly rate ranging from $29.07 + superannuation.

Requirements
- Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
