About the Position
To ensure emergency management responsibilities are fulfilled for the organisation in line with the responsibilities outlined in the State Emergency Management Plan and s59G of the Emergency Management Act 2013, key deliverables include the revision of Council’s Municipal and Workplace Emergency Management Plans and sub plans, oversight and governance of the Business Continuity Process, Emergency Planning Committee, and Emergency Control Organisations, as well as being the support lead for emergency management activities for the Municipality.
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative and policy frameworks relating to emergency management
- A demonstrated ability in working cohesively with stakeholders and representatives of various community and government agencies
- Ability to analyse problems, look at alternatives and make informed decisions using professional and technical knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to analysis and model data and undertake innovative problem solving
- Demonstrated ability to show innovation in developing and improving work methods to achieve best practice and resolve issues.
- Knowledge in Business Continuity planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Requirements

- Tertiary qualification in emergency management and/or public safety or experience in a similar role or lesser qualification with a willingness to obtain Diploma.
- Extensive and diverse knowledge and understanding of key legislation and requirements of Emergency Management legislation, principles and logistics management
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role.
- Experience in continuous improvement, team building and development of technical service levels.
- Demonstrated experience in project management
- Experience in Business Continuity
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Employee Working with Children’s Check (if applicable)
- Satisfactory National Police Check; and
- Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
