The Role
We are seeking an Engagement Coordinator to play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between My Mind Check and key Education, Mental Health and Community stakeholders. Working within a small team and reporting into the stakeholder Relations Lead, you will be the conduit when collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and community organisations to ensure effective communication, alignment, and collaboration.
About Us
My Mind Check is a free, evidence-based tool that empowers schools to proactively identify and address student mental health and wellbeing concerns early. Based on its years of research into youth mental health, Macquarie University was appointed to develop an online check-in tool on behalf of the Federal Department of Education halfway through 2023. The first schools commenced using the tool, known as My Mind Check, in late 2024.
My Mind Check is now looking to expand implementation and drive uptake at scale, requiring increased stakeholder engagement with an understanding of motivations, barriers and facilitators. The My Mind Check project team is made up of approximately 20 staff with backgrounds in child & youth mental health, IT, Communications and Education.
Essential Criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in engagement, community relations, policy, sales or similar roles in an Education/Health/NFP organisation.
- Confidence to navigate diverse stakeholder perspectives and adapt communication styles accordingly.
- Highly developed empathy to understand the needs and concerns of identified community groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport.
- Ability to think strategically to align engagement efforts with organisational goals.
- Problem solving skills, addressing challenges and conflicts constructively.
- Superior organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively and autonomously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
- Proficiency in using collaboration tools and software
Desired Criteria:
- Experience working on projects in the Education, Mental Health and/or Government sector is highly desirable.
- Experience using Salesforce would be beneficial, but not essential.
