About the role
In this pivotal role, you’ll perform critical finance and assurance functions that support the State’s management of natural disaster expenditure. From processing payments and auditing claims to liaising with government agencies and help optimise recovery funding across NSW.
You’ll also contribute to risk-based assurance, reporting, and stakeholder guidance, all while ensuring expenditure aligns with relevant policies and national standards, such as the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. With project-based tasks and meaningful collaboration at its core, the position is ideal for someone who enjoys both operational precision and broader impact.
About You
You’re an analytical thinker with a sharp eye for detail and a collaborative spirit. You bring:
- An understanding of assurance and financial management practices in government settings.
- Experience in auditing, reviewing expenditure records, and applying internal control principles and payment processes.
- Excellent communication skills to support cross-agency collaboration and advisory work.
- Confidence in applying project management methodology to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.
- A proactive mindset, capable of interpreting guidelines and contributing to ongoing process improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster.
