Your opportunity:
This role sits within the Customer & People Experience Finance Business Partnering team and reports to the Senior Finance Manager. It works closely with key stakeholders in the Sales & Distribution team to provide commercial insights and guidance across commission structures, distribution channels, and the Retail division’s operating expenditure and dealer commissions.
The role is responsible for business casing and decision support, performance reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. It offers a fantastic opportunity to strengthen and grow your finance business partnering capabilities, with strong mentoring and exposure to strategic decision-making. As a key member of the Finance Business Partnering (FBP) team, your responsibilities will include:
- Commission Scheme Analysis & Design: Evaluating the effectiveness of existing commission schemes across all internal and external distribution channels. Model and develop new commission proposals that reward value and service, not just volume, for both existing and new products and channels.
- Commission Trend Monitoring: Tracking and analysing all types of commission transactions (upfront, one-off, clawbacks, ongoing payments) to ensure alignment with budget. Collaborate with the Financial Control team and leverage the Performio system to generate regular reporting and identify adverse trends early.
- Accounting & Compliance: Understanding and communicating the technical implications of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 15) on commission recognition and ensure compliance.
- Sales Channel Optimisation: Partnering with the Sales team to assess the distribution of points of presence (own stores, partner stores, business channels) and ensure optimal geographic and strategic placement.
- Commission Approvals: Reviewing and approving monthly and quarterly commission payments for Vodafone, ensuring accuracy and alignment with performance
- Incentive Management: Approving and supporting the design of special incentives to drive focus on strategic product lines or business areas.
- Sales Quality & Insights: Collaborating with the Senior Finance Manager – Profitability & Insights to monitor sales quality, identify areas for improvement, and recommend changes to controls or commission structures. Report on trends and outcomes.
- Retail Workforce Planning: Support optimal workforce planning for retail stores through data-driven insights and financial modelling.
- Capex Business Casing: Developing and monitoring business cases for store-related capital expenditure plans.
- Reporting & Forecasting: Preparing month-end reporting, support annual budgeting processes, and provide ongoing forecasting for relevant areas.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality, accurate, and insightful outputs that drive business action.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide decision-making at GM level.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with high numerical proficiency.
- Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to assess risks and opportunities and provide strategic alternatives.
- Minimum 5 years of finance experience, ideally in a business partnering or commercial finance role.
- CPA, CIMA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for innovation and process optimisation.
- High integrity and alignment with company values.
- Strong team orientation and collaborative approach.
- A flexible, curious mindset with a passion for learning and tackling day-to-day challenges.
