What’s the opportunity?

The role is responsible for providing to the Executive and Senior leadership team financial insights and strategic recommendations that enable informed decision-making aligned with the company’s objectives. The role will also drive and co-ordinate FP&A activities across Telstra Health and continuous improvement across the finance team and the business to improve quality of financial data and reporting.

About the role:

The key accountabilities and outcomes of this role are as follows:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop a team of 2 finance professionals
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management for direct reports
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the FP&A and broader finance team
  • Ensure team capacity and capability alignment with business needs

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Financial strategy and working with Corporate Strategy to ensure multi-year company goals and priorities are reflected in company wide financial performance
  • Own the annual budgeting process, periodic forecasting cycles and multi-year plans
  • Lead monthly financial reporting and variance analysis (P&L and Cash)
  • Lead business reviews and board presentation preparation with comprehensive financial analysis
  • Review comprehensive financial models for business planning
  • Provide strategic insights on key business metrics, trends, and performance drivers
  • Support investment decisions through ROI analysis and business case development
  • Key financial Point of Contact (POC) between Telstra Health and Telstra Corporate

Strategic Partnership

  • Collaborate with Strategy, Sales & Marketing, Product & Tech, Operations, EPMO, Finance People & Culture to drive cross-functional alignment
  • Present financial insights and recommendations for executive and board member level reporting by articulating complex financial matters into clear, actionable insights and communicate them effectively to drive strategic conversations

Process Improvement & Systems

  • Champion continuous improvement and finance initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting, and drive greater efficiency and value.
  • Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, tools, and reporting capabilities across key corporate financial systems used: Dynamics, PowerBI and Workday.
  • Enhance financial modelling frameworks and scenario planning capabilities
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial reporting

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee preparation of board materials and investor reporting
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Support audit processes and technical accounting matters as needed

Asset testing for impairment

  • Periodic testing of company assets for impairment together with the Investment Accounting Group

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce or related quantitative field
  • CA, CPA, CFA, or similar professional certification
  • 10 plus years in a similar role with proven experience in Financial Planning & Analysis in a complex, matrixed, or multinational organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes at regional or business unit level.
  • Strong capability in financial modelling, scenario planning, and translating analysis into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel and financial systems; experience with ERP and BI tools (e.g. Dynamics, Workday Power BI) highly regarded.
  • Solid understanding of key financial and commercial concepts, industry drivers, and macroeconomic trends and how they impact an organisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills, with a proven ability to influence senior executives.
