Primary objective
Provide high level coordination and administration to the Northern Territory Genetics Service at Royal Darwin Hospital in
partnership with external interstate provider.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide first point of contact information to NT genetic patients, the general public and health professions on Genetic Clinic
processes in a relevant, timely and appropriate manner.
2. Manage and co-ordinate all clinical schedules for interstate visiting clinicians and process related invoices.
3. Manage, coordinate and track relevant patient information from health practitioners for patients including liaising with remote
community health clinics, Specialists and GPs, ensuring all relevant and appropriate information is available for appointments.
4. Maintain up-to-date electronic records and strict confidentiality of patient information.
5. Organise and Coordinate access to education sessions by Genetic staff to internal and external stakeholders.
6. Provide assistance and coordination with other projects from time to time as determined by the Unit.
7. Ensure adherence to the NT Health, Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital and unit policies, procedures and protocols and
function within legislation governing practice.
8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated advanced computer literacy and experience in the use applications including Word, Excel, Outlook including
management of multiple calendar systems, financial systems and healthcare databases or similar.
2. Demonstrated time management, work prioritisation and self-motivation skills with the ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with a wide range of people, both internal and external.
3. Demonstrated experience of high work standards including high level written and verbal communication skills and attention to
detail particularly during periods of high workload activity.
4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal, team leadership, communication, organisational and management skills resulting in the
provision of high-quality client services for people from diverse cultures
5. Demonstrated experience in the control, coordinating and management of highly confidential information.
6. Ability to create and maintain effective communication and database systems, including multimedia video/web conferencing
and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable
1. An undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
