About the role

Are you passionate about good governance and civic engagement? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Governance Officer to join our team and support the delivery of high-quality governance services across the organisation.

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate and compile Council Meeting Agendas and Minutes with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support the Governance Unit in delivering key programs, including Councillor Briefing Sessions and Freedom of Information processes.
  • Organise and host Citizenship Ceremonies in line with Department of Home Affairs requirements.
  • Maintain governance registers, update web content, and assist with legislative compliance.
  • Provide administrative support and contribute to the continuous improvement of governance practices.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:

  • Experience in high level administration, ideally within Local Government, or relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic document management systems, and agenda/minutes software.
  • Event coordination experience and confidence in public speaking (e.g., as MC at ceremonies).
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence, Police Check, and Working with Children Check.
