The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader to head our dynamic Languages Department at Carey Baptist College, located at our Harrisdale Campus. Commencing in 2026 and reporting to the Assistant Principal - Curriculum, this exciting opportunity allows you to inspire and shape the learning experiences of students in either Mandarin or Japanese language studies, while fostering a love for linguistic diversity and cultural understanding.
We’re offering a flexible opportunity at either 0.8 FTE (part-time) or 1.0 FTE (full time), with 0.2 FTE dedicated to Head of Department responsibilities. The remaining time is allocated to teaching, creating an ideal blend of strategic leadership and active classroom engagement. This role is perfect for educators who thrive in both guiding a team and inspiring students directly.
About the Role
As the Head of Department (HOD), you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of language teachers and promoting excellence in the teaching and learning of languages across the school. You will play a key role in curriculum development, department management, and staff mentorship, ensuring that students have access to high-quality language education that aligns with our Christ-centered mission.
