Brookville Kindergarten is a community-managed kindergarten with a rich history of delivering high quality education and care to children and their families in the City of Stonnington. Work Days of the Role

3-4 days (days and hours negotiable)

Description

We’re looking for a highly organised, people-focused professional to step into the role of Centre Manager at our community kindergarten. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on structure and detail, but who also values the relationships that make kindergartens such special places. This is a fixed term role until Feb 2026. Preferably 3-4 days per week (days and hours negotiable). As Centre Manager, you’ll oversee the service’s day-to-day operations, managing the non-educational functions that support our educators and ensure compliance. You’ll work in close partnership with the Educational Leader and educators to ensure the day-to-day running of the centre is smooth and coordinated. While the Educational Leader focuses on mentoring staff, curriculum and pedagogy, you’ll lead on operations, taking responsibility for compliance, administration, risk, staffing and family communications. The Centre Manager is responsible for ensuring the service meets all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, and for advising the Committee of Management on key operational risks and opportunities. We are looking for someone who: - Notices the details and takes pride in getting things right - Works well with systems, processes, and deadlines - Communicates clearly and professionally with a wide range of people - Is a problem solver and knows when to ask the right questions - Picks up new systems and technology quickly, and is confident using digital tools - Works well under pressure and can manage competing priorities with confidence Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee enrolments, bookings and family communications
  • Coordinate staff rosters and monitor staffing ratios
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations including but not limited to
    • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Education & Care Services National Regulations and relevant Law
    • Keeping accurate records in line with the National Quality Framework and regulatory requirements
    • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with policies, staffing ratios, and other standards
    • Supporting the preparation of reports for internal use and external stakeholders (e.g. government funding, audits, or reviews)
  • Support budgeting, purchasing and general administration aligned with centre's financial processes
  • Help identify process improvements and keep things running efficiently, including streamlining administrative processes through improved use of technology
  • Assist with reporting requirements and day-to-day documentation
About you
  • You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident managing multiple priorities. You’re also warm, approachable, and understand the importance of building strong, respectful relationships with both families and staff. You combine professionalism with empathy and are equally comfortable managing a spreadsheet, solving a practical problem, or chatting with a parent at drop-off.
  • You take initiative, communicate clearly, and bring a solutions-focused mindset to your work. Most importantly, you care deeply about creating a space where children, families and educators feel safe, supported, and connected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Diploma of Early Childhood (ACECQA recognised)
  • Have at least 5 years experience in an educational leadership role
  • Current WWCC/VIT
  • First Aid and Anaphylaxis, and current child protection training
  • High track record of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with families and staff
  • Experience in liaising with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies
  • Familiar with educational software and confident with digital systems /tools
  • Must have full working rights in Australia.
