About the role
Lead with purpose as a Laboratory Manager within SA Pathology’s Microbiology and Infectious Diseases division. In this critical leadership position, you’ll oversee the operations of the Food and Environment Laboratory, coordinating a team of scientists and technical staff to deliver high-quality, compliant diagnostic testing services. Your role will support both public health and clinical decision-making, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient laboratory outcomes that meet national accreditation standards.
As a senior scientific lead, you will drive strategic and operational priorities, contribute to policy development, and actively participate in laboratory planning, quality systems, and innovation. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of public health testing in South Australia by combining hands-on scientific expertise with proven leadership and management capability.
About You
You will be an experienced and highly motivated scientific leader with deep technical expertise in microbiology and diagnostic laboratory management.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in pathology (minimum AQF level 7), recognised under NPAAC guidelines
Extensive experience in microbiological testing, especially in food, water, and pharmaceutical environments
Demonstrated leadership in staff management, quality systems, accreditation standards, and workflow optimisation
Compliance with mandatory checks: Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Clearance (NPC), and subject to immunisation requirements
