Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the position includes the following responsibilities:
- To maintain locomotive and rolling stock by following the Safe Work instructions that include:
- Executing adjustment, alignment, balance, calibration, clean, inspect, lubricate, measure, monitor, record, refurbish, repair, restore, service, test and torque tasks on SCT equipment including general housekeeping (good record keeping) and upkeep according to Policies, Procedures and Standards of the SCT Maintenance Department.
- Identify areas of improvement and continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage and meet targets.
- Good understanding of how to utilize new/use materials.
- Embracing new technology.
- Provide accurate data, results and feedback.

- Trade Certificate in Heavy Vehicles Maintenance
- Either Electrical, Mechanical or Relevant trade qualifications
- Ability to work autonomously and with others and foster a good team environment.
- Ability to take on challenges with lateral thinking and implement change.
- Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to use Microsoft suites – Word, Email
Desirable
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Rail Safety Awareness Induction
- Forklift Licence
- Experience within the Transport industry
