THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director, Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Response team (CSERT), you will be part of a small specialist team responsible for the delivery of the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing's strategy for responding to child sexual and criminal exploitation (CCE). This includes leading the development of an intelligence function to harness existing data sources, enhance detection and work in partnerships with Victoria Police and other intelligence areas to respond to child sexual exploitation.
The role supports the work of CSERT with primary responsibilities relating to:
  • assisting the implementation of the team's Strategic Plan to enhance joint responses to CSE that involves leading and supporting multi-disciplinary projects, data analysis and reporting, and providing strategic advice to the Director
  • providing authoritative strategic advice to relevant senior managers and units within operational and policy areas demonstrating flexibility, sound judgement and the ability to take effective, timely action
  • developing, implementing and managing the CSERT intelligence function to ensure the accessibility and provision of high quality and high value intelligence services, and data products in a timely manner.
The role requires demonstrated leadership experience in the development, implementation, and support of operations relating to CSE/ CCE responses or related crime themes in intelligence agencies, policing or justice related areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Build and oversee CSERT intelligence capability as it relates to enhancing the departmental response to CSE and CCE, through:
    • research, analysis and implementation of intelligence practice activities and products with defined outputs and outcomes
    • being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of initiatives related to building intelligence capability within resourcing, timeline, and budget parameters
    • monitoring and evaluating activities to ensure departmental objectives to counter CSE are met.
  • Lead a small team responsible for embedding intelligence capability to enhance responses to CSE through the use of evidence-based intelligence practices, data insights and inter-agency collaboration.
  • Develop intelligence operations in support of practice initiatives to meet the strategic directions for managing and delivering an enhanced response to CSE and CCE.
