Job Description
Step into a pivotal role at TAL as a Manager, Investment Risk Systems, where you’ll work at the heart of our Investment Services Team. Here, you’ll drive the evolution of investment and asset-liability management practices, supporting optimal decision-making across the business.
In this dynamic position, you will champion the implementation and ongoing enhancement of our primary risk platform, Aladdin, ensuring we leverage world-class investment risk and ALM systems. Your expertise will underpin our ability to identify, quantify, and manage investment and ALM exposures, directly supporting TAL’s reputation as a progressive life insurer.
In this role you will:
- Be the service delivery manager for Aladdin, the primary risk system
- Ensure internal investment risk and ALM models are maintained to a high standard and are fit for use.
- Review existing and proposed ALM systems, documents, and activities for capital implications and effectiveness.
- Pro-active optimisation of the investment risk management system including oversight of investment managers’ portfolio exposures and ensuring ongoing compliance with mandate limits and the RAS
- Production and reporting of various risk metrics for various forums and reports
- Ensure compliance with TAL’s Third Party Risk Management Policy with respect to Investment Risk System
- Present to various internal forums and executive committees
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Actuarial studies, Mathematics, Finance or related discipline
- Experience working in the Finance, Investments, or Life Insurance sectors and at least 5 years in an investment risk-related position
- Very strong financial modelling experience
- Strong knowledge of life insurance regulatory capital standards
- Strong ability to communicate and articulate complex concepts
- Strong initiative, with regards to developing new processes and investigating and resolving complex issues
