Location for each role will be negotiated with the successful candidate, with a focus on being regionally based. Options include NSW Reconstruction Authority permanent offices and selected regional hubs, subject to availability.
About the role
The Manager, Reconstruction Coordination provides critical support to local councils, state agencies and infrastructure owners in disaster activities and infrastructure recovery. You will provide strategic oversight of infrastructure recovery programs by partnering with key infrastructure providers (such as local councils and other state government agencies) to ensure alignment with the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
You will lead a regionally based Reconstruction Coordination team and foster a high-performing and collaborative environment. The role acts as the primary liaison for infrastructure stakeholders, supporting consistent communication and coordination across the reconstruction landscape.
In this exciting and varied role, you will:

Provide technical guidance and support to councils and other applicants in developing and managing funding submissions for disaster-affected infrastructure.

Work with local councils, state agencies, and infrastructure providers to facilitate infrastructure recovery efforts and ensure timely access to funding.

Contribute to local and regional emergency management committees, providing technical input on infrastructure recovery and disaster preparedness priorities.

Support reporting and analysis of disaster-affected public infrastructure, contributing to the strategic outlook for reconstruction efforts across NSW.

Assist in the development of funding program processes to facilitate efficient and compliant infrastructure reconstruction.

Provide advice and input into program improvements, governance frameworks, and stakeholder engagement initiatives, including opportunities for infrastructure betterment.
About you:
The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills with an ability to find mutually beneficial solutions. Having outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with local councils and government agencies, comes natural with proven leadership experience. This includes managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering technical outcomes in disaster recovery or infrastructure delivery contexts.
They will be an excellent communicator with a strong understanding of infrastructure delivery and disaster recovery funding processes (DRFA).
Essential Requirements:

Experience in infrastructure planning, funding assessment, or program delivery, particularly in a public sector or disaster recovery context.

Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent professional experience in infrastructure delivery or disaster recovery.

Strong knowledge of the DRFA and other disaster recovery frameworks, including compliance, funding eligibility, and audit/compliance requirements.

Proven ability to analyse complex policy and funding challenges, develop strategic frameworks, and implement practical, evidence-based solutions in high-pressure and dynamic environments.

Knowledge of developing and implementing performance monitoring, risk management, and reporting systems for funding or compliance processes.

Knowledge of supply chain management in disaster recovery, including the coordination of critical resources such as equipment and professional expertise during reconstruction efforts.
