DNV Maritime Region Southeast Asia, Pacific & India is seeking a marine surveyor to join our Fleet in Service (FIS) team in Melbourne Australia. A qualified marine surveyor/auditor will be a team member of a highly qualified team of surveyors and auditors surveying various ship types across Australian and New Zealand Ports.
Tasks may include
- Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines, and quality requirements of DNV
- Perform classification surveys and audits as per DNV procedure and guidelines, liaise with Port and Flag states as necessary.
- Maintain the confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation
- When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner.
- Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation for integrity of DNV
- Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from a recognized institute or Class-I Marine Engineer certificate of competency or equivalent
- A good understanding of maritime and offshore business with a minimum 5 years of experience in the maritime and classification industry, ideally with both survey and audit experience.
- Flexibility in travelling and solid willingness to take unscheduled job calls when required
- Strong customer service orientation and proven record of managing maritime clients
- Good understanding of class and statutory requirements
- Proven ability to effectively manage digitalization and new business opportunities
- Team player but able to work independently on surveys
- Physical abilities necessary to perform regular classification functions, including voyage surveys, sea trials and attendance in the anchorage etc.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
