Job Description
An exciting opportunity for a Product Designer to join our team and create engaging digital experiences across our brands and platforms. You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and editorial teams to design user-friendly solutions that meet both user needs and business goals. You’ll take ownership of design projects, contribute to strategic decisions and work with other designers in the team.
Nine’s publishing division is home to some of Australia’s most iconic news brands, including The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Australian Financial Review, Good Food, and nine.com.au. Each month, our digital products connect more than 10 million Australians with content that matters to them.
Our team is responsible for product design and management across our audience facing brands and the platforms that power the authoring, curation and distribution of our journalism and the monetisation platforms that drive our subscription revenue growth across B2C and B2B segments.
What you’ll do:
Design and deliver: Own the design process from concept to final implementation, ensuring high-quality results.
Collaborate and influence: Partner with cross-functional teams to define requirements, advocate for user needs, and influence product strategy.
Prototype and validate: Create and test prototypes (low to high-fidelity) using user feedback and data to refine designs.
Problem-solve: Tackle complex challenges by identifying user needs and developing innovative solutions that meet both user and business goals.
Deep user understanding: Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and understand user behaviors.
Stay informed: Keep current with design trends, tools, and best practices, and share that knowledge with the team.
Qualifications
What you’ll bring;
3+ years of experience as a Product Designer, with a strong portfolio.
Proven ability to design high-quality digital products across web and mobile.
Understanding of user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design.
Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Figma.
Experience working in an agile environment.
Desirable
Experience designing for news or media products.
Experience with user research methodologies.
Experience with data-driven design and A/B testing.
