The opportunity

As a Project Controls Officer, you will report into the Project Controls Manager and work on portfolio of capital projects in various stages of lifecycle in the water, wastewater and sewage treatment environment.

This full-time permanent role and will be based out of our client’s office in Mango Hill with on-site parking available.

What you’ll do

  • Assume financial control of various projects including budget allocation from estimate based on agreed WBS, populate, maintain and forecast performance utilising established forecasting tools

  • Ensuring sufficient investigation is undertaken of related budget prior to incurring commitments.

  • Updating the ERP tool with project level financial position and forecasts

  • Assist with control of progress payment schedules to sub-contractors and suppliers by understanding payment terms, coding and change management

  • Create client payment claims & invoices in the ERP system

  • Ensure accuracy of project costs and associated allocations

  • Analyse cost and schedule data to identify trends and potential risk areas.

  • Implement change management principles to address changes in project scope

  • Report and elevate any situation that may result in serious impact or harm to business performance or reputation.

What we’re looking for

  • 10+ years on the job experience, tertiary qualification in finance or engineering/construction is not required but will be advantageous

  • Experience with project management principles and on capital construction projects where extensive use of sub-contractors was deployed is desirable

  • Strong Excel and numerical skills and understanding of Budget vs Commitment

  • Familiarity with ERP and Project Management systems (JDE, SAP, Oracle, Contruent, InEight, etc)

  • Solid understanding of scheduling fundamentals and related software
