About the team

This is an exciting opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic Assistant Project Officer to join the Operations (Metro) directorate in the Interventions, Planning and Engagement team. You will be supporting a team of work health and safety compliance inspectors that respond to workplace incidents and complaints to secure healthier and safer workplaces in NSW. The Assistant Project Officer assists the team in coordinating and delivering major regulatory priority projects aligned to SafeWork NSW’s Annual Regulatory Statement and Strategic Plan. You will be working with a variety of teams including operations, technical specialists, work health and safety policy and shared services effectively contributing to project and operational support, overcoming key challenges, and driving successful project outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing administrative support to assist the Interventions, Planning and Engagement team achieve its business objectives
  • Providing project and operational support, including monitoring and reporting on project plans, milestones and deliverables
  • Undertaking basic research and analysis and contributing to the preparation of project briefs, presentations and other documentation
  • Records management in line with organisational policies and procedures.

About you

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Self-motivated with a good understanding of the work health and safety regulatory framework to support Inspectors in their regulatory activities
  • Collaborative and team-orientated approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and balance competing demands.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to tailor communication to audiences.
  • Skilled in managing complex stakeholder enquires and coordinating shared mailboxes.
  • Experience in reporting, including the ability to interpret and analyse data
