Primary objective
DriveSafe NT Remote operates within a multi-disciplinary framework delivering innovative place-based road safety solutions
designed to promote responsible road use including getting and keeping a driver licence. As a member of the DriveSafe Remote
NT team facilitate innovative road safety education teaching and learning solutions that promote responsible road user behaviour
resulting in a licensing outcome.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support and contribute to the delivery of road safety educational and driver licensing programs within remote Indigenous
populations of the Northern Territory.
2. Represent the Government in the provision of information to other stakeholders and members of the community and provide
Motor Vehicle Registry services.
3. Collaborate effectively in joined-up service delivery solutions.
4. Exercise delegations as a Deputy Registrar and use discretionary powers in more complex cases not necessarily covered in the
regulatory framework.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the delivery and facilitation of training programs for culturally and linguistically diverse populations
including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
2. Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to sustain effective relationships across a wide range of community
and client groups including Indigenous organisations and services.
3. Demonstrated experience to organise and achieve workplace objectives, managing time to meet deadlines and working
independently and part of a team within a regulatory service delivery framework.
4. An understanding of Work Health and Safety matters as they apply to a workplace or the ability to acquire knowledge within a
short period of time.
5. Experience in using computer systems and/or databases to input and retrieve data and information.
6. Ability and willingness to travel remotely by small light aircraft or 4WD.
7. Hold a current ‘C’ class Northern Territory Drivers Licence.
Desirable
1. Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE 40116 or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
2. Relevant qualifications or experience in education and/or training.
3. Experience working within Indigenous people in remote service settings.
4. Operational knowledge of applicable NT legislation including but not limited to the Motor Vehicles Act 1949 and the Traffic
Act 1987.
