We are looking for someone who can:

  • Establish Develop and implement a collaborative stakeholder engagement and communication strategy to ensure active participation and sustained support across specialist and non-specialist hospital partners.
  • Facilitate and formalise working relationships between designated specialist and non-specialist hospitals, enabling consistent application of the spinal cord injury (SCI) model of care.
  • Provide clinical leadership, support and education to multidisciplinary teams, particularly nursing staff, within non-specialist hospitals, enhancing capability in the acute management of SCI.
  • Coordinate the systematic identification, notification, and monitoring of new acute SCI admissions across both SCI and non-SCI facilities, ensuring accurate, real-time tracking through a centralised state notification system.

What you will be doing

The Project Officer will promote, develop and monitor strategic aspects of the implementation of the spinal cord injury (SCI) model of care in collaboration with the project team. It will establish the foundations of an innovative model that will improve the quality of health service delivery across selected specialist SCI and non-specialist hospitals in NSW. The role will work alongside of the State Spinal Cord Injury Service (SSCIS) network manager to design and test aspects of the new model of care including a centralised state notification and patient tracker system, and the provision of in reach of clinical support to non-specialist hospitals. The position will require the ability to travel and clinical skills in the acute management of SCI to support clinicians who care for people admitted with SCI to selected hospitals in NSW.

Employment Type: Full Time Exempt (up to August 2027)
Position Classification: Health Manager Level 3
Remuneration: $127,150.00 - $144,444.00 per annum excluding Superannuation
Hours Per Week: 40 (38 standard + 2hrs toward ADO)

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in nursing with at least 5 years’ experience in the management of people with spinal cord injury or related conditions.
  • Experience in adult education and competency-based training.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a consultancy service for complex cases.
  • Proven ability to implement change and introduce new clinical practice models across a service.
