School Support Officer - Library Assistant

A full time permanent position commencing 27 January 2025.

This position exists to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching. This library-based position requires you to work collaboratively with teachers, providing assistance in all areas of student learning and management.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA

The preferred applicant demonstrates the following criteria:

• ○ A commitment to the mission and purpose of the Catholic School within the broader
    Catholic Church.
  ○ Ability to manage a contemporary library space.
  ○ Ability to source an engaging and relevant physical and virtual collection.
  ○ Active promotion of library services and digital resources.
  ○ Knowledge of the physical processing of cataloguing resources.
  ○ Excellent information technology skills.
  ○ Effective organisational skills with demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  ○ Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  ○ Confidence in engaging, supporting and positively managing young people.
  ○ Ability to recognise confidential issues as they arise and to treat them with the
    sensitivity required.

DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA

• Experience working in a library environment.
  ○ Promote reading and a love of literature.
  ○ Familiarity with using Oliver v5 or other library system software.
  ○ Familiarity with using Sora, ClickView, SCIS and other digital resources.
  ○ Proficiency in the Google suite and MS Office applications.
  ○ Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  ○ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  ○ Graduate Diploma or Certificate in Library and Information Services or relevant
     discipline (or working towards completion).

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Senior First Aid Certificate
