The opportunity
This is a growth role due to an increase in our transport project pipeline.
We are currently seeking a candidate at the Senior Associate level to guide major transport infrastructure initiatives through complex planning and environmental approvals processes. What you’ll do
You will lead and support a portfolio of projects, specifically in the road, rail, and transmission sector. Your role will be dynamic and multifaceted, involving the following key responsibilities:
- Harness your understanding of statutory frameworks to guide large-scale transport corridors from concept to consent
- Lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Statements, State Significant Infrastructure, State Significant Development, Major Infrastructure Designations, and Review of Environmental Factors, ensuring rigorous analysis and compliance with legislative requirements
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with public authorities, private developers, and industry partners
- Play an active role in identifying new opportunities, preparing compelling proposals, and supporting bids for Queensland’s most iconic infrastructure initiatives
- Mentor and develop emerging professionals, fostering a supportive, high-performing culture
- Provide guidance to government and private sector clients on the planning and approvals of road and rail infrastructure, including Net Zero transition projects
- Work closely with technical experts such as ecologists, acousticians, engineers, contaminated land scientists, and designers, ensuring robust, integrated project outcomes
You will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to cutting-edge projects, such as:
- Planning approvals for landmark linear infrastructure, such as the Beaufort Bypass and Inland Rail
- Supporting the rollout of Fast Rail and Zero Emissions Bus projects
- Strategic environmental assessments for emerging technologies; offshore wind, pumped hydro, and hydrogen developments
- Facilitating energy transition initiatives like EnergyConnect and Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone
About you
We are seeking an environmental consultant who brings substantial experience in environmental planning and approvals, with a track record in transport infrastructure. Your credentials will likely include:
- 10+ years in environmental planning, with a significant focus on major linear infrastructure projects in Queensland and/or nationally
- Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams, managing complex projects, and driving high-quality outcomes for clients and communities
- Expertise in Queensland’s environmental assessment frameworks and planning legislation, with the ability to navigate evolving statutory environments
- Proven ability to manage project lifecycles, coordinate stakeholders, and resolve challenges efficiently
- Outstanding written and verbal skills; capable of engaging confidently with clients, regulators, and community representatives
- A passion for developing talent, sharing knowledge, and fostering a collaborative, ambitious team culture
- Experience in business development and work-winning, with the skills to prepare persuasive proposals and presentations
- Ability to work seamlessly with specialists from diverse disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
