Full-time | Permanent | Sydney CBD (Hybrid working)
At Uniting, we don’t just talk about justice, we act on it. We believe the world can and must be more fair, inclusive and sustainable — and we campaign fearlessly to make that happen.
We are seeking a passionate First Nations Social Justice Advocate to be part of transformative campaigns that centre First Nations voices, challenge entrenched disadvantage and drive systemic change.
We’re walking alongside communities, standing with First Nations people, and raising our voices on the big issues of our time:
First Nations justice – truth, treaty, voice and self-determination.
Fair Treatment – calling for drug laws that heal, not punish.
Climate change – mobilising our communities to act on climate change with a focus on amplifying justice for people most impacted.
Reducing entry into out-of-home care -shifting power to communities and shaking up the system to be culturally safe and relationally led.
This role is about bringing your voice, your culture and your passion into these campaigns.
About the role
As our First Nations Social Justice Advocate, driving Uniting’s advocacy agenda forward. Your work will include:

Growing networks of supporters
Mobilising community into action.
Using social media, events and storytelling to build momentum.
Training and supporting others to take action alongside you.
Supporting making sure First Nations voices and priorities are always front and centre.
This role is for someone who is not only passionate about justice, but who also wants to walk alongside communities to create lasting systemic change.
About you
This is an identified role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
You are a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can bring
Experience working with mob and community.

Passion for creating change through campaigns, community organising or advocacy.
Strong communication skills — talking with people, writing posts, sharing stories.
Confidence to work with a mix of people — from community to church to politicians.
A willingness to learn, grow and work as part of a team.
If you’ve used social media for advocacy, been part of community organising, or supported social justice work in any way — paid or unpaid — this role is for you.
Why Uniting?
Because you will make a real difference here.
At Uniting, you’ll:
Be part of powerful campaigns that fight for justice.
Have a platform to bring First Nations perspectives into strategy and practice.

Help drive systemic change that creates a fairer, more compassionate society.
We live by our values: Compassionate, Respectful, Imaginative and Bold. And we’re looking for someone who shares them.
If you’re ready to step into a role where that gives you a chance to make a difference where it counts most — for justice, for community, for generations to come — we’d love to hear from you.
