What You’ll Be Doing
As a Junior Software Designer, you’ll:
Break down high-level features into clear, testable user stories with guidance from senior team members
Participate in backlog refinement sessions and agile ceremonies
Collaborate with Product Owners to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
Learn to analyze system interactions, data flows, and dependencies
Help create visual models like process flows and architecture diagrams
Use tools like Jira or Azure DevOps (ADO) to manage stories and track progress
Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across the team
What You’ll Learn and Grow Into
Agile & Collaboration Skills:
How to write effective user stories and acceptance criteria
Participate in SAFe and Scrum ceremonies like PI Planning and Sprint Reviews
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure shared understanding and delivery alignment
Technical & Design Skills:
Basics of system design and documentation
How to analyze technical requirements and identify risks
Use tools like Visio, Lucidchart, or draw.io to create diagrams
Hands-on experience with Jira or Azure DevOps
What We’re Looking For
A keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset
Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Curiosity and willingness to learn—especially in agile delivery and system design
Some exposure to agile practices or technical documentation is a bonus, but not required
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe Practitioner) are a plus but not mandatory
Additional Requirements
Security Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen with active or eligible security clearance.
Work Schedule: This is a managed services role, so flexibility is key. You may be required to work shifts, be on-call, and support after-hours deployments.
Location Commitment: Must be willing to work onsite at the client’s office 4 days a week.
Other Essentials
Must not have been terminated from a government agency or received poor performance feedback.
Must have lived in Australia for most of the past 5 years.
Must be up to date with tax obligations.
