An excellent opportunity awaits a tenacious Strategic Communications Specialist to join our corporate team. In this role, you will create content that reflects and resonates with diverse audiences, in a global organisation that has a strong Australian presence. Here you will contribute to Thales Australia’s strategic initiatives in a leading technology, defence, and cyber company.
The Strategic Communications Specialist (Social Media) will work with the broader communications and strategy teams to promote the Thales Australia and New Zealand brand and enhance reputation through storytelling. Through the creation of clear and engaging strategy aligned content, this role is key in ensuring consistent and timely delivery of messages to protect and shape the company’s brand and reputation.
The role will play an important part in end-to-end content development optimised for digital channels, publishing stories via internal and global platforms, and utilising existing communication tools and media. The role also contributes to the organisation of corporate/strategic internal and external events and messaging in Australia, including trade shows and corporate conferences.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Working from our Sydney HQ, Sydney Olympic Park, on Wann-gal land, your role purpose will be:
- Generate, identify, capture and draft engaging content for internal and external audiences using digital channels, including campaigns, stories, social media posts and press releases.
- Capturing images and video to help tell stories to internal and external audiences.
- Partner with leads across Thales to source unique Thales Australia content for internal and external audiences that enhances and protects Thales Australia’s brand and reputation.
- Work with the Digital team to build social media campaigns and use digital communication tools to enhance the brand's online presence and engage with stakeholders.
- Build integrated media and communications plans for events and announcements, working with the Head of Corporate Communications to ensure an integrated approach.
- Coordination and organisation of events and trade shows to ensure successful execution and brand representation.
- Maintain and update internal documents relating to the organisation’s strategic objectives and external reputation to keep the strategy and communications teams and company leadership, engaged and informed.
- Monitor the effectiveness of communication efforts through qualitative and quantitative measures.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering multi-channel communications campaigns.
- Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
- Outstanding written and digital communication skills that can be adapted to suit audience and stakeholder requirements.
- Experience with media and departmental/government environments are essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with employees across all levels and backgrounds as well as external stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively and transparently in a local and international team.
- Photography and videography skills are advantageous
