Job Description

Sustainability Lead – 18-Month Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover)

We’re looking for a passionate and strategic Sustainability Lead to lead key initiatives that embed sustainability into our operations, culture, and decision-making. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while covering a maternity leave for an 18-month fixed-term contract.

In this role, you’ll drive the development and execution of Viva Energy’s sustainability strategy, lead ESG reporting and assurance, and collaborate across the business to deliver on our environmental and social commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

Sustainability Reporting & Assurance

  • Lead the preparation of Viva Energy’s Sustainability Report and Data Supplement, ensuring alignment with leading ESG frameworks
  • Manage external assurance processes and auditor relationships.
  • Conduct annual materiality assessments to identify priority ESG issues.

Strategy & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support the evolution of Viva Energy’s sustainability strategy in line with business goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborate across teams to embed sustainability into operations and track progress against ESG targets.
  • Benchmark performance and engage with industry peers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide insights to support policy responses and regulatory engagement.

Data Management & Analytics

  • Build and maintain robust ESG data systems and reporting infrastructure.
  • Partner with IT and data teams to enhance analytics capabilities.
  • Monitor KPIs and deliver insights to inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business, or related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in sustainability, ESG, or corporate communications.
  • Strong understanding of ESG reporting standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage data, lead projects, and engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex ESG concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Strong analytical and data modelling capabilities.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across diverse teams.
  • Project management expertise, particularly in compliance and reporting.
