What you'll be doing

  • Participate in the preparation of theatres before cases, cleaning and clearing theatres in between and end of cases. Removing clinical waste from the department.
  • Collect and return patients from the wards safely.
  • Take urgent specimens to pathology/bloods to ICU.
  • Collect items from other areas of facility as instructed by nursing staff.
  • Maintain patient’s trolleys in clean and tidy conditions.
  • Assist with application of tourniquets, positioning of patients and transfers of patients.
  • Assist nursing staff with cleaning of theatres at end of all theatre lists.
  • Identify and report issues with equipment.
  • Weekly ordering and distribution of stock
  • Work unsupervised at various times and provide training to inexperienced porters undertaking duties in the operating theatre.
