You’ll be part of a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of hard surface areas across the City of Melbourne’s parks. This is a physical, hands-on role where you’ll operate street sweepers and waste collection vehicles while contributing to a clean, welcoming public environment. The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday, 6:40am to 3:10pm, with overtime opportunities available and occasional weekend work is required
As a Sweeper, Waste and Cleaning Operator, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Performing scheduled street sweeping across designated park areas
- Removing rubbish prior to sweeping and ensuring areas are kept clean
- Operating plant, vehicles and equipment safely and reporting any defects
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed, vehicle use, and equipment
- Assisting with graffiti removal, pressure washing and general cleaning
- Driving and operating a waste compactor to assist with collections
- Supporting other team members as required across waste and cleaning services

You are someone who takes pride in keeping public spaces clean and safe. You enjoy hands-on work, are reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently and as part of a team. You communicate well and are comfortable working in a physically demanding environment.
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- A valid Medium Rigid (MR) Driver’s Licence
- A current Working with Children Check
- Understanding of machinery used in street cleaning and maintenance
- Ability to get in and out of vehicles and perform manual tasks throughout the shift
- Strong attention to detail, communication skills and teamwork
- Experience with graffiti removal, pressure washing or waste services (desirable)
