Primary objective
Provide essential services to enable the Frances Bay Marine Facility to operate efficiently and safely meeting the expectations of
its customers and NTPS objectives.
Context statement
The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment is responsible for the management and operation of the Frances Bay Marine
Facilities comprising the Frances Bay Mooring Basin, Fisherman’s Wharf, Raptis Wharf, Hornibrooks Pontoon and Careening Poles
and Sadgroves Creek Moorings. The work unit sits within Crown Land Estate which administers and manages Crown Land on behalf
of the Northern Territory Government.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist with essential maintenance and housekeeping of all the infrastructure, plant and equipment.
2. Effectively and safely operate, inspect and report on specialised equipment including water and electricity supply equipment,
lock doors and firefighting equipment.
3. Provide relief Mooring Basin lock operations.
4. Assist as a member of the oil spill response team.
5. Undertake multi skilled operational functions including property maintenance, providing water and electricity supply and
mooring services to vessels.
6. Undertake activities to support the provision of efficient and effective services to customers as directed from time to time.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Hold a current Northern Territory Drivers Licence and a high-risk work (forklift) licence.
2. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and reliable, with the proven ability to work in a multi-disciplined team and/or
without supervision.
3. Demonstrated understanding of Work, Health and Safety principles as they apply to a workplace including safety and
environmental issues relating to a marine environment or the ability to acquire knowledge within a short period.
4. Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with people from diverse cultures and demonstrating basic
computing skills.
5. Ability to be on call outside normal operating hours and carry out overtime duties as required.
Desirable
1. Hold or ability to obtain an AMSA Coxswain certificate of competency.
2. Hold or ability to obtain a First Aid Certificate.
