We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Youth Services, Sport and Recreation Coordinator at the Normanton and Karumba Sports and Aquatic Centres.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a multi-faceted role that combines overseeing day-to-day operations of two thriving sports facilities, ensuring pool safety, and contributing to community-focused youth services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Coordination: Oversee the operations of the Normanton, Karumba Sports and Aquatic Centre's, ensuring smooth day-to-day running and providing leadership to a dedicated team. Deliver high-quality sporting, recreational, and leisure activities to the local community.
- Lifeguard & Safety: Oversee supervision of the pool areas to ensure the safety of all swimming patrons. Maintain the cleanliness and basic maintenance of the pool and its surroundings.
- Youth Services: Work with the Community Service Team and the Carpentaria community to implement the Carpentaria Youth Strategy. Play a key role in establishing the Youth Council and supporting activities at the Shire’s sports centre's.
- Community Engagement: Support various community projects and events, assist with Council-led initiatives, and provide information and support to local groups and organisations.
- Marketing & Promotion: Utilise your skills in promoting sporting and recreational activities, ensuring maximum participation within the community.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Current Working with Children Blue Card.
- Current C Class Driver’s License.
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate or the ability to obtain.
- Ability to gain knowledge of safety procedures and requirements for the storage of hazardous chemicals.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate or the ability to obtain.
- Experience in working with young people, youth services or other agencies.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Outlook to monitor and respond to emails.
- Must be team orientated, have a strong work ethic, and be open to new ideas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with members of the community and visitors.
