Job Description

The Ngaanyatjarra Council (Aboriginal Corporation) represents the interests of around 2000 Ngaanyatjarra, Pintupi and Pitjantjatjara Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) who reside in the twelve member communities of the Ngaanyatjarra Council.

Warburton Roadhouse is seeking All-Rounders, would suit couple couple, to assist the Roadhouse Managers to ensure the satisfactory operation of the Roadhouse.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all sales and related duties are carried out effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Undertake the honest, accurate, efficient, and effective operation of all points of sale (e.g., checkouts, take-away, credit sales and fuel).
  • Assist the Roadhouse Manager in the regular conduct of;
  • stock takes and ordering
  • maintenance and development of retail displays
  • cleaning
  • Assist with the preparation of meals and take-away food.
  • Ensure that nutritional snacks and meals are available to community members and guests.
  • Clean and maintain motel rooms and backpacker accommodation, report any repairs needed to Manager.
  • Assist with the maintenance of campgrounds.
  • Clean ablution blocks daily.

Essential

  • Ability to work with and under the direction of traditional Aboriginal people in a “dry” (no alcohol) community.
  • Previous experience working in a Roadhouse or comparable retail enterprise.
  • Basic problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Well-developed organisational, and planning skills.
  • Good numeracy and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to use stock control and word processing computer programs.
  • Ability to operate cash registers, store refrigeration and other equipment, and identify minor faults.
  • Knowledge of the storage and display requirements of refrigerated and general stock.
  • Basic knowledge of stock control principles.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment such as lawn mower, brush cutter.
  • Ability to maintain high standard of hygiene for ablution blocks and accommodation.
  • Current drivers’ licence.

Desirable

  • Basic knowledge of and commitment to the principals of Aboriginal self-determination at the Community level especially as it relates to management, employment, training and enterprise development.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of aboriginal history, culture, and contemporary aboriginal political, social, cultural and economic issues.
  • Forklift drivers’ licence.

Remuneration

These positions come with a base salary of $52,000 gross per annum PLUS Super and Benefits outlined above.
