About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland (CQ), now providing integrated cancer care services in Central Queensland in the newly established building boasting state of the art medical equipment.
The other primary hospitals within the health service are Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon and Biloela together with many smaller rural units transfer patients through to Rockhampton for specialist care and investigation.
About the role:
The Emergency Department (ED) Administration Officer provides and maintains a highly responsive and effective administrative support and customer service function to the 24-hour Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Administration Officer contributes to patient safety and patient flow by performing a skilled reception and customer service role to patients and visitors attending the Emergency Department, as well as providing an admission, discharge, and administrative support function to assist Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff in the department whilst maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, emotional resilience, attention to detail and a data quality focus.
About you:
Attend to presenting patients, family members, general public, police and ambulance by undertaking standard ED Administration duties, and/or, directing to appropriate treatment or assistance where required.
Respond to general reception enquiries for the department by answering all incoming telephone calls and ensuring accurate and timely transfer of messages and information to support patients and staff.
Consult with patients, carers, and clinical staff to obtain correct details for completion of admissions and record information accurately and efficiently into the hospital information systems.
Maintain composure, professionalism, and efficiency during times of high demand and 'surge' activity to ensure the highest level of support to patients and clinical staff of the Emergency Department.
