About our Team
In cooperation with the Navy and Army, the Air Force is tasked with the defence of our nation, our people, our values and our way of life. We achieve this by controlling the air, acquiring intelligence through reconnaissance and surveillance, providing air mobility for all operational needs, and supporting combat missions through a strike capability.
Situated within Air Force Headquarters, the Directorate of Information and Data Governance-Air Force (DIDG-AF) is charged with enabling Air Force to manage and use its information and data assets to support timely and effective decisions. To achieve this, DIDG-AF provides an array of information and data governance, policy, education, and compliance capabilities to Air Force.

The IM-AF team ensures information management policies and procedures are current, align with broader Defence policies and legislation, are understood across Air Force, and are implemented effectively;
- Data Policy & Strategy’s (DPS-AF) purpose is to mature and manage Air Force’s governance functions for data management. The DPS-AF team ensures data management policies and procedures are current, align with broader Defence policies and legislation, data quality and standards across AF, and supporting the maturation of AF’s data-informed decision making;
- Data Analysis and Innovation’s (DAI-AF) purpose is to seek out opportunities for improvements in Air Force’s collection, curation, and use of data to support decisions. The DAI-AF team operates in an agile manner, focusing on short-term opportunities and products from across the entirety of the Defence Organisation, with the aim of building upon Air Force’s investment and recognising data as a vital source of information for decision-makers.
