About the Role:

The Aboriginal Pathways directorate leads goal three of the Department for Education Aboriginal Education Strategy 2019 to 2029 in support of continued achievement of secondary Aboriginal learners. Students participating in Aboriginal Pathways programs access a culturally safe and responsive career education, advice and guidance program that is underpinned and connected to culture; resulting in generations of confident Aboriginal leaders who excel at school and beyond.

The Aboriginal Engagement Officer is required to liaise closely with teachers, students, Aboriginal support staff in schools, key organisation stakeholders and members of Aboriginal communities and is responsible for ensuring that Aboriginal pathways initiatives and operations maximises opportunities for Aboriginal perspectives and student engagement. The role develops, implements, evaluates and delivers high level project management and administration functions to support the implementation of Aboriginal engagement projects which optimises the cultural responsiveness of Aboriginal Pathways programs and initiatives.

The position requires extremely high levels of confidentiality and is subject to periods of high workload and changing priorities.

Qualifications:

Essential: Extensive knowledge, connectivity and experience with Aboriginal communities and network across South Australia and broadly.

Desirable: Appropriate qualification in community services, education support or business administration.



Special Conditions:

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:

ASO6 $98,478 - $104,165 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (11.5%) and leave loading
