About the Role
Georges River Council is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Biosecurity Weeds Officer to join our dynamic and busy Bushcare team - City Technical Services. The successful candidate will develop, implement, coordinate and review Council's weed control programs, including surveillance, mapping and Biosecurity management issues. This also includes collaboration with residents and businesses bordering on reserves, industrial land, nurseries, shops and rail corridors to minimize the spread of weeds. The position is required to meet all requirements under NSW Biosecurity Act 2015 adhering to functions of local control authority and direction for George's River Council.

- Salary from $70,180.26 - $81,309.63 per annum plus 12% superannuation (pro rata)

The successful candidate will have
- Certificate III Conservation & Land Management, Bush Regeneration, Horticulture (or equivalent)
- Class C Drivers Licence
- ACDC Spray licence or Chemcert
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Successful completion of Legal Training for Weeds Officers – Stage 3 (or willingness to undertake post recruitment)
- Demonstrated experience and current knowledge of identification of weeds, weed control strategies and integrated weed management techniques
- Experience in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders utilising excellent communication and written skills
- An understanding of the requirements of the Biosecurity Act 2015 (NSW.)
- Ability to work without direct supervision
- Capacity to plan, prioritise and organise programs and work schedules
- Computer skills, especially in regard to mobile applications, field-based Mapping (Sydney Weed APP) or similar and generation of reports
- Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices and EEO principles
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
