Bushfire Mitigation Manager

SP AusNet
$115,725 - $146,534 a year
Victoria
Full time
Location: Victoria, Australia
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Description:

At AusNet, we’re the link between renewable energy sources and local communities, playing a key role in the clean energy transition and providing essential energy to every Victorian family.

Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make real impact – for your career, our communities and Australia’s cleaner energy future.

Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That’s refreshing.

About the Role

With growing climate challenges, there has never been a more important time to manage bushfire risk and protect communities. As the Bushfire Mitigation Manager, you’ll play a critical role in AusNet’s bushfire mitigation and energy safety initiatives and be a key interface between AusNet and Energy Safe Victoria. You’ll enhance AusNet’s safety performance and influence key strategic decisions. This is an opportunity to lead innovation, influence change and make a lasting impact in a sector that’s shaping Australia’s energy future.

Key Responsibilities

  • A key interface between AusNet and Energy Safe Victoria on bushfire mitigation and energy safety programs.
  • Analyse and report on bushfire mitigation and other network safety indicators, delivering insights to senior leaders and the Board, and help shape tactical strategies to manage bushfire ignition risk.
  • Influence the delivery of safety programs and alignment with compliant safety outcomes.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, audits and assurance activities related to bushfire mitigation and network safety.
  • Provide strategic advice to the business on compliance obligations and uplift safety culture.
  • Draft high-quality correspondence, audit responses and regulatory submissions.
  • Engage with internal teams to prepare timely responses to regulatory requests.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be an engineer, but you do need to be comfortable with technical detail and able to turn it into clear actionable insights.

  • 5+ years’ experience in safety, compliance, risk, or audit—ideally in energy, utilities, oil & gas, or mining.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience managing tight deadlines and high volumes of reporting.
  • Excellent drafting and writing skills—this role involves a lot of written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail and high quality outputs.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.

We are not engaging with Recruitment agencies for this role, so if you are interested please apply directly!

  • Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
  • Perks: we offer all the other perks you’ve come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts and more.
