About the role

Are you an experienced business operations or project manager with a passion for events? The City of Sydney is seeking a Business Administration Manager to support the successful delivery of our Major Events and Festivals portfolio.

In this role, you’ll manage procurement and contracting processes, oversee event budgets, drive compliance and lead key business and administrative projects all while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to bring Sydney’s iconic public events to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • lead and manage procurement and contracting processes in partnership with the City’s legal, risk and governance teams
  • provide strategic advice on business operations, resourcing, and finance to support event delivery
  • maintain oversight of event budgets and ensure financial reporting is accurate and timely
  • develop internal memos and approvals in line with the City’s Register of Delegations
  • build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure smooth project delivery
  • support cross-functional collaboration across programming, production and operations teams.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • a degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or equivalent professional experience
  • qualifications or demonstrated experience in Procurement and/or Contract Management
  • experience providing business/administrative services to a high-performing operation
  • strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • proven ability to balance governance requirements with commercial outcomes.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
