The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Case Worker for our Brisbane Recovery Services Program in a permanent full-time capacity. This position is based out of Red Hill.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award level 4.

- Establish effective relationships with participants that encourage people to become independent and make choices in their own lives.
- Screen and assess individuals experiencing Alcohol and other drug issues
- Develop individual treatment plans using frameworks and approaches of national AOD Model of Care.
- Provide a holistic, coordinated care approach to service delivery through liaison, advocacy, collaboration, and networking with external services to achieve improved outcomes for participants.
- Utilise AOD interventions in line with training and competency such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Prevention to assist participants in developing strategies to address problematic substance use.
- Facilitate bio-psycho-social education groups that are aligned with the national model of care, predominantly through our ‘Foundations’ groupwork.
- Assist participants to engage with TSA activities and programs, for example: Chaplaincy support, financial counselling, employment services, volunteering opportunities at Salvos Stores, participation in social activities or worship at a local Corps as indicated.
What you will bring:
- A relevant Degree level qualification is preferred or a relevant Diploma level qualification with substantial experience in a relevant industry.
- Experience in an AOD recovery residential setting.
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- A current and valid driver's license
